01. About Me

I'm a Tech Lead and Senior Software Engineer at Cox Automotive, where I lead a team building backend microservices that process financial transactions for thousands of auto dealerships nationwide. Our platform handles credit applications, deal management, and lender integrations at scale.

Over 8 years, I've grown from building REST APIs to architecting multi-region active-active systems with sub-4-minute failover, driving CI/CD modernization across the org, and designing encryption infrastructure for enterprise partner integrations. I focus on system reliability, observability, and developer productivity.

I hold a Master's in Computer Science from NYU and have deep expertise in Python, AWS serverless architecture, Infrastructure as Code, and DevOps. I'm passionate about mentoring engineers, reducing operational toil, and building tools that make teams ship faster and safer.

02. Experience

Tech Lead & Senior Software Engineer

Cox Automotive — Dealertrack, Finance & Insurance

New Hyde Park, NY | July 2018 – Present

Current

Dealertrack processes billions of dollars in auto financing annually — credit applications, deal structuring, lender submissions, and compliance workflows for thousands of dealerships. As Tech Lead, I own a distributed microservice platform on AWS that powers this pipeline end-to-end.

Python AWS Lambda API Gateway DynamoDB SQS / SNS S3 CloudFront Route53 Lambda@Edge AWS KMS Secrets Manager Terraform GitHub Actions Serverless Framework Docker CloudFormation New Relic CloudWatch WAF Okta / OAuth 2.0

Distributed Systems & Event-Driven Architecture

  • Designed a serverless RESTful API layer (Lambda + API Gateway + DynamoDB) from scratch, serving as the single source of truth for all financial transaction state — handling concurrent reads/writes at scale with optimistic locking and conditional expressions
  • Architected an event-driven credit decisioning pipeline using SQS-triggered Lambda consumers, a state machine orchestrator, and pub/sub fan-out to coordinate pre-qualification, credit bureau pulls, and fraud detection — fully decoupled, idempotent, and replayable from any point of failure
  • Designed the event framework architecture for the next-gen platform backbone — analyzing throughput bottlenecks, dead letter queue patterns, and event schema evolution strategies across the service mesh
  • Built producer/consumer patterns with SQS FIFO queues for ordered financial event processing, ensuring exactly-once delivery semantics for credit bureau response handling

Security Engineering & Cryptography

  • Built an in-process message-level encryption (MLE) package implementing JWS (RS256/RS384/RS512) signature verification and JWE (RSA-OAEP) payload decryption — with TTL-based key caching (60s private / 300s public), adding <10ms p99 overhead per request
  • Integrated AWS KMS for private key operations (key material never leaves AWS) and Secrets Manager for partner public key lifecycle, with per-partner configuration and automated cache invalidation for key rotation
  • Designed the MLE infrastructure to unblock a tier-1 enterprise partnership and scale to 150+ partners with three deployment modes (disabled → optional → required) for zero-disruption rollout
  • Created LibRefresh — an automated supply chain security tool that pins dependencies to n-1 versions with configurable release-age thresholds, scanning and patching 20+ repos (Python + Node.js) against known CVEs before they reach production
  • Led organization-wide secret rotation: Artifactory API key deprecation, GitHub global secret migration, OAuth provider cutover (Bridge 1 → Okta), and origin secret propagation across 10+ service repositories — all with zero downtime

Site Reliability & Multi-Region Infrastructure

  • Key contributor to the active-active multi-region deployment — deploying identical stacks across two AWS regions with Route53 weighted routing and automated health-check failover, cutting RTO from 30 minutes to under 4 minutes
  • Executed live cross-region stack migrations (us-east-1 → us-east-2) for production Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, and CloudFront distributions — zero-downtime cutover while serving real financial transactions
  • Maintain 99.95%+ monthly availability (21 minutes/month max downtime) with custom health-check Lambda probes, CloudWatch composite alarms, and automated PagerDuty escalation
  • Led the observability platform migration from Splunk to New Relic — building APM dashboards, alert conditions, and SLI/SLO definitions that reduced MTTD by 40%+
  • Serve as on-call escalation lead — authored runbooks, post-incident reviews, and drove root-cause fixes for production incidents across quarterly support rotations

CI/CD & Infrastructure as Code

  • Migrated 4+ production services from Jenkins to GitHub Actions — designing reusable composite actions for build/test/deploy with matrix strategies, Terraform plan/apply gates, and automated rollback on health-check failure
  • Built multi-region deployment pipelines that deploy to primary and standby regions in parallel, with automated failover validation and deploy-to-standby safeguards preventing accidental active-stack mutations
  • Manage infrastructure as code with Terraform (Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, SQS, Route53, CloudFront, WAF) and Serverless Framework, with state locking via S3+DynamoDB and drift detection
  • Drove the OAuth provider migration across all external APIs — re-architecting CloudFront → API Gateway → Lambda Edge authorizer flow, remapping partner client IDs, and reloading API scopes with zero partner downtime

Technical Leadership

  • Lead 6 engineers across 3 squads — own sprint planning, backlog prioritization, story decomposition, and delivery commitments against quarterly engineering roadmap milestones
  • Author Design & Engineering Proposals (DEPs) and conduct Production Readiness Reviews (PRRs) for new features, aligning product, engineering, and enterprise architecture on technical direction
  • Mentor engineers through daily code reviews, pair programming sessions, and architecture whiteboarding, building a team culture of ownership, documentation-first design, and blameless incident response
  • Spearheading AI-assisted developer tooling — building intelligent code review automation to accelerate PR feedback loops and catch patterns across the codebase at scale

Data Analyst & Lead Instructor
